EPT Deauville Main Event: 16 Players Remain - Satellite Qualifier Out In Front

Tags: Benjamin Pollak, EPT Deauville, Georgios Kapalas, Joseph Carlino, Kevin MacPhee.
Posted on Friday, February 06, 2015 by "T".

Day 3 saw the return of 36 players, including notables such as Kevin MacPhee, Guillaume Darcout, Benjamin Pollak, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. Just as planned, the tournament director called it a day when 16 players remained on Day 3.

Joseph Carlino from France bagged up 2,757,000 and the chip lead. Carlino won a live satellite to the Main Event and now has the chance of going all the way to the final table, where €543,700 is reserved for the winner.

He will be joined at the poker tables today by, for example, home-grown talent Benjamin Pollak (877k), Day 2 chip leader Georgios Kapalas, and Kevin MacPhee, who has $3.4 million in live earnings and almost $6.9 million in online earnings. Unfortunately, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier won't be back today. The French Team PokerStars Pro brought a small stack to Day 3 and fell already in 31st place for €14,490. We wish him better luck next time!

Chip counts:

Joseph Carlino, France, 2,757,000
Carlo Savinelli, Italy, 2,565,000
Benjamin Buhr, France, 2,001,000
Dany Parlafes, Romania, 1,850,000
Matas Cimbolas, Lithuania, 1,621,000
Ognyan Dimov, Bulgaria, 1,103,000
Andrius Bielskis, Lithuania, 1,095,000
Benjamin Pollak, France, 877,000
Olivier Piechaczyk, France, 841,000
Massou Cohen, France, 641,000
Julien Duveau, France, 630,000
Georgios Kapalas, Greece, 585,000
Kevin MacPhee, United States, 581,000
Joseph El Khoury, Lebanon, 415,000
Daniel Carlsson, Sweden, 267,000

We'll be back tomorrow morning with another update.

Last time I looked at this tournament it was getting close to the final table with only 11 left, but then Kevin MacPhee who was short stack has just been knocked out so now 10 left.
Chip leader is Carlo Savinelli but extremely close with less than 3 bb separating the top 3 players.

What a great story it would be if an online qualifier could go on and win the whole thing. This would give hope to many other small players who hope to strike it rich one day

Unfortunately Carlo Savinelli didn't quite make it all the way and was knocked out in 9th place but a great cash of €46,000,($52k).
Joseph Carlino, the satellite qualifier, did well but was out in 6th for his best cash ever of €115,000.

Yesterday was my big EPT freeroll winning day - of course on the final day of the promotion. Not only did I cash in the normal freeroll, but I also won 1,65 Dollars in the tournament only open for Germans. I was 44 th there.

Well, now that the 'french fries' took the helm from the 'greek yoghurt' everything seems to up for grabs. Only their nerves could tell about what's going to happen with whom in this tourey. Also the guy who got here from a live satellite must be the luckiest mug on Earth, if not the best player on the field right now.

Also I mentioned in the other thread that this is a nice mixed group of lucky SOBs - guys from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, France, Greece, United States, Lebanon, Sweden - I am a bit surprised for the lack of playas from the UK though.
