British player Alan Carr has become the latest Unibet Poker Open champ after qualifying through an online satellite for just €5! Can you believe he won over €50K just because of a simple mistake?

The Unibet Open by Unibet Poker is the hottest live poker tournament circuit in Europe, with ever-growing numbers of players ranging from amateurs to pros battling for six-figure prize pools in some of the continent's most glamorous locations.

Malta is the third stop of the 2019 tour of Unibet Open, where players get to enjoy five days of thrilling poker action in one of the top poker destinations within Europe. Players get to stay at the luxurious InterContinental Hotel in St. Julian's, a very popular resort on the Mediterranean island.

2019 Unibet Open Malta Main Event

  • Venue: InterContinental Hotel and Casino Malta
  • Date: September 11 to 15, 2019
  • Buy-in: €1,100 ($1,200)
  • Players: 327

Alan Carr is mainly an online cash games player who usually prefers to play at bigger buy-in tournaments, but one day he accidentally registered on a €5 step-satellite on Unibet Poker. He however made the most of that misclick and turned it into a €50 ticket, which further turned into a €250 ticket. Therefore, Carr won his seat into the Unibet Open Malta with just a €5 investment, and he's just one out of over 190 players who got in via satellites.

Eleven players returned for the final table. After the competition was whittled down, a deal was struck amongst the final three players. From what began as only a €5 satellite ticket, Carr shall get to take home his biggest recorded cash in a live tournament. The British cash game player managed to beat Italian Luca Beretta in a heads-up match to earn an extra €5,100 and the Unibet Poker trophy.

This is not a simple mistake but the reality is that you can earn nice amounts of money with little money. You must to play satellites and the next one that can catch a final table can be you. Good luck comes when you don't expect it.

Well if you are lucky, then you are lucky.
He entered the satellite by mistake, won two satellites to get the tournament buy in
and then he won the tournament Smile
It cant get any better than that.
I bet that most of the players would wish to have just 1/3 of his luck Smile

Of course it’s very cool that a person who made his way to a major tournament through the Satellite and eventually won this tournament .... this stimulates many players who cannot afford to participate in major tournaments .... on the other hand, a lot of people will now play in satellites to repeat this path and end up with nothing Confused

It is obvious that not all players are lucky enough to win big money. There are rare cases when the players take a shot in a short time. Most of them do not hit and others win large amounts after years. This does not mean that you cannot win a sum that will impress and make you happy.
