A total of 3,196 entrants participated, but on Sunday's Day 2 of the Main Event, just 567 players returned to action.
After 7 hours and 35 minutes of poker action, it was 888poker ambassador Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche who won the prestigious event. And guess what, it's his birthday to boot!
He fought fiercely even when he was down to just 7BB, and ended up winning the first-place prize worth $121,146!
He wasn't the only one who managed to bag a six-figure payout. The final four struck a deal at the final table. It made three players each secure an amount of $106,000 or more.

Final Table Action
Nitsche started at the final table as the second-shortest stack. Thanks to an early double, he made his way through the field as four players bowed out.
With five players left, Nitsche made his first knockout. His A-3 suited outdid the K-5 of "kiskutya23" all-in preflop.
After that, Nitsche was third in chips and the final four contenders agreed to their ICM deal. It left $20,000 on the table for the final winner.
With his A-10, Nitsche then dispatched "MrMarley83" who was outmaneuvered with A-2.
Three players remain, and Nitsche once again had A-10. But this time he found himself dominated by the A-K of "Artemka168". Nitsche fought back as a 10 appeared on the flop. That win catapulted him into a heads-up match with more than 2:1 chip lead over "GarbinaD".
In the final hand of the event, it was Level 39 (325,000/650,000/81,250) when "GarbinaD" shoved holding the K10. Nitsche called as he held A9.
The flop showed Q99, which gave Nitsche trip nines; however the J gave "GarbinaD" a straight. Nitsche was looking to pair the board or hit his kicker to win it.
what a better birthday gift to ask then to win on main event and to get great first prize of 121 K dollars!even it was deal between this four players and winner got less money, its still good win!this would be more money for any of this winners, but on this was they had at least 106 K dollars!now he can buy something special for own birhtday from this money!
To win a 1st place in a major tournament when is your birthday is something formidable, and if the joy is great, then this success will remain in his memory many years since now. Congratulations for this player and that succes.
That was a great birthday gift for him , these $121K that he managed to win in the main event . Congratulations to him , also congrats to the rest of the final four for making this very good deal that gave them so much money in this prestige event . Nice for Dominik rthat he came backfrom very short stack and won the last $20K also for the winner of this event ,great performance .
I saw him play, he's a great player, disciplined, and he won the award on his birthday, what better gift. Well, you always have to be studious to go far in poker, we must always set goals and meet them. great performance by dominik.
thats crazy amount and best birthday gift that you can imagine!ofcourse for some poker players this isnt something special, but for every regular and normal poker players this is great amount!now its question for him,how to do best from this and how to invest this money in poker after, more live tournaments or online poker!
In the past years some poker rooms with about 7-14 days before my birthday gave me a chance to win a sum of money (only a few hundred dollars). A little bit, but i consider this thing a kind of gift from them. It is very good but this thing must exist during the year, not only then...
He managed to come back from very few blinds , double up , triple his stack , then go for the win and this very good gift for his birthday . Nice to see this deal beatween four players , cause mostly I could see a deal between two , rarely among three or more , the prizes are notso big for the players to agree or other times , mostly , some of the players want to make games with the psychology of the rest of the players still in the game on the FT , not to make a deal , just to make them angry , i have seen this many times , luckily these players were serious players and made this good deal for them
very nice can not imagine best birthdays presents if you are a poker pro player. I remember him from wsop few years ago when he win a bracelet. I dint hear nothing from him till now, Good to know he is still in the game i always think he is a solid player. I hope i get something for birthday to not just 1 dollar free bets haha.
Tournaments when you come back from a few blinds are very rarely, but this thing happened last year... if i'm not mistaken, when i saw a news item posted here in bankrollmob. He deserves many appreciation for how he managed that victory.
Well , you can come back ,when you few blinds , most of all it depends on the luck (whether when you get a good preflop hand another player has a hand to call you and also he's not a nit or very duvious to think it's an RNG trap and so to fold his card ) , above all I believe it's up to the big stack . if you have a very big stack , if he's very loose , trying to make everyone bust and win the tourney without any deal , then you make patience , wait for a nice hand , go all in and with some good luck this loose big stack will double you up , maybe double up you again .
This is called pure luck, because a single card can eliminate from the tournament and of course then you no longer win 1st place. Important thing is that he was lucky from this point of view and played very well. Ia a good gambler.
Yes Calicul , a very good gambler and a very good player , you cannot win a tourney without a lot of luck with all these flips , especially when you are behind with very few blinds , but also you cannot win a tourney without a lot of skill , to know when to gamble and when to bluff or not , how much to bet and on which spots to put pressure , how to identify the weak players and how to extract maximum value from the best hands etc etc etc . It's a run , run , run , a tournament is a whole marathon , you build your win brick by brick , so really he deserved this win and congratulations to him , this was a very nice birthday gift for him for sure . Good luck for his next games on 888poker , or live when the live games return .
but you cant win some tourney just because you are great player, you must have some luck,at least to get good cards when you need them or that some players dont pay on your bluff and stuff like this!you can have great cards whole tournament and that you will win without problems, some luck with experience is something that you must have!
Fate made him to have this big luck and i would like have more chances of this in online poker where it can happen often. Winner in larger tournaments i was not, but won 1st place in free games several times ( over 20 with more than 800 players up to a few thousand ).

Yrs ocfourse , luck is needed , without luck you cannot go until the FT , I remember one time , to go to the FT my KK all in preflop after a a villains 4bet , he had AA , luckily a King on the flop gave me a set and the win , after that hand I didn't look behind , I went to FT and finished 5th .Luck is needed , and luck means to crack some good hands of the other , some hands of yours not to be cracks or to flop amazing hands on the board (like the Royal Flush I had recently lol) , especially when you are low stacked , I am praying to the RNG God to give me sth to double up , not to send me to go to sleep , lol
I would love to win a medium or large poker tournament right on my birthday day, but this thing is too hard to be achieved. I guess then enjoy with my friends and family along with food and drink. That is if i have the permission of Covid 19... which does not support agglomeration.
Dominik is a great 888poker pro player, I like his style of play, he knows how to read the cards perfectly and he also knows how to play final tables very well, congratulations for what happened, he has won a 6-figure grand prize, and that's not all, all this It happened on his birthday, hahaha, I think it was the best gift he ever had, hahaha that was fun.
He is a professional player, can beat other formidable gamblers when is in good shape and of course he proved it. He has big talent and is capable to win big tournaments. Nothing is impossible in poker when you are a pro. Is very beautiful.
Dominik Nitsche is a great poker player and he is part of 888poker, I think that perseverance and study were enough to win this tournament, besides that I win it on his birthday I enjoy it and celebrate it twice, sometimes the rewards are good at least can you imagine it, congratulations Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche is a player which i didn't follow, and i have no idea how aggressive he is at the tables, when he plays against other professionals or semi-pros. His earnings prove that he is a formidable gambler and he proved it many times.
